Ha Tien 1 Cement targets US$17.07m pretax profit

Ha Tien 1 Cement JSC (HT1), the largest cement maker in Vietnam by market capitalisation, targets a pretax profit of VND367bn (US$17.07m) this year, down 7.32 per cent YoY. Its revenue is expected to rise 5.9 per cent YoY to VND7.16trn in 2015, HT1 said on its website.

PT Semen Padang, part of the Semen Indonesia group of companies, reported a 6.8 per cent decrease in sales volumes in the first quarter of this year to 1.5Mt. Holcim Ltd today announces that it has sold its entire remaining shareholding of 27.5 per cent in Siam City Cement (Public) Company Ltd (SCCC) in Thailand via a private placement in capital markets. Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hoang Trung Hai, has agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to pilot the import of fly ash over the 2015-16 period. Under approval, Nghi Son Cement Corporation will be allowed to import an annual volume of 200,000t within two years. Vicem sales up 6.7% in first two months

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) said it sold about 3.1Mt of cement and clinker in the first two months of this year, rising 6.7 per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 99.1 per cent of the target. Of the volume, 2.49Mt of cement and clinker were sold in domestic market, up 15.3 per cent YoY and 610,000t were exported, down 18 per cent. Vietnam monthly sales remain flat

Vietnam’s cement sales remained flat at 5.87Mt in January compared to the month before, the Ministry of Construction said on its website Tuesday. Of the sum, 4.37Mt were sold in the domestic market, while 1.5Mt were exported. Holcim Philippines posted another record performance last year with a double-digit rise in sales on the back of strong and private infrastructure spending. Indonesian cement sales fell by 2.9 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt in January 2015, as heavy rains affected construction activity in several areas. Most region of the country registered a drop in demand during the month. Cement prices in the Philippines are set to rise by PHP10/40kg bag shortly, according to separate advisory statements issued by three domestic producers to local distributors. Cemex Corp, Lafarge and Eagle Cement have each notified distibutors of the impending rise, the Manila Standard reported yesterday. Vietnam monthly output up 27% YoY

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 5.2Mt of cement in January, down 8.1 per cent from December 2014 but up 27 per cent from a year ago, according to the government's General Statistics Office (GSO). In December 2014, the country’s cement output stood at 5.7Mt, according to the revised figure. The GSO also revised down the country’s cement output in 2014 to 54.1Mt, from earlier estimated of 59.8Mt.
