The Akkord Industry Construction Investment Corporation OJSC has merged two of its businesses. The Akkord Concrete LLC and Gazakh Cement plant LLC have been merged, according to a news report from the Azeri-Press Agency. Azerbaijan: EBRD increase stake in Holcim plant

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has raised its stake in the equity capital of Holcim (Azerbaijan) OJSC in Azerbaijan (formerly Garadagh Cement Plant) to 20 per cent. The European Bank for Reconstruction & Development's (EBRD) Board of Directors has postponed the pending decision on raising the bank’s stake in the equity capital of Holcim (Azerbaijan) OJSC up to 20 per cent but retains plans to double its participation in the cement producer. Azerbaijan: Cement production drops by 30% in year to May

Cement production in Azerbaijan has fallen by 30.3 per cent for the five months to May 2016, Azer press reports. The national statistics committee put the decline in output down to lower public and private sector spending. Production of concrete fell by 60 per cent, to 177,000t. Azerbaijan produced 829,000t of cement in the first five months of the year. Clinker imports also fell by 55 per cent, to 140,500t, with prices remaining unchanged at US$46.60/t.

Akkord has announced the successful completion of Phase 2 of its Gazakh Cement plant with the participation of the International Bank of Azerbaijan. Last week, Gazakh Cement started clinker production of a new line which is expected to reach its full capacity of 2500tpd by October.
