NORM LLC eyes further expansion plans

NORM LLC may consider expanding its new 2Mta Qizildas Cement plant in Azerbaijan as early as next year, plant manager, Osman Nemli, has indicated. Akkord Cement is preparing to more than double capacity at its recently-launched Gazakh Cement plant in Azerbaijan over the next three years. NORM LLC has launched production at its 2Mta Qizildas Cement plant, marking the entry of a new player on the Azerbaijan market. “At present, construction work is completed at the plant and production of the first cement started. Azerbaijan increases imports from Georgia

In the 1H13 249,770t of cement valued at US$18.45m was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan, according to Georgia's national statistics service, GruzStat. The share of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in the 1H13 constituted 5.54 per cent. In comparison with the same period, the export of cement from Georgia increased by 28.48 per cent or by 53,700t.

A financing agreement was signed in Baku on 21 December by the General Director of Norm LLC, Hassan Yalchinkaya, and the Chairman of Pasha Bank, Farid Akhundov, paving the way for the supply of equipment from Germany for the new 5000tpd clinker plant. President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has attended the official inauguration of Holcim’s new dry-process line at its Garadagh cement plant in Baku. The new 1.7Mta kiln replaces the existing wet-process production and involved an investment of EUR300m.
