Holcim has closed the sale of its business in Brazil to CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional) for an enterprise value of US$1.025bn. The deal was closed following approvals from Brazilian authorities. Cement sales in Brazil fell by 6.6 per cent YoY to 5.51Mt in July 2022 from 5.899Mt in July 2021, according to the Brazilian cement association, SNIC. Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE has given its approval to steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional’s (CSN) acquisition of Holcim’s local cement business. Votorantim Cimentos’ regional results in the 2Q22 recorded strong revenues despite inflationary pressures. Votorantim Cimentos awards new transport contract to VLI

A new contract has been signed between Votorantim Cimentos and logistics company VLI for the transportation of 625,000t of cement and petcoke. The petcoke, which is imported from the USA, will arrive in Brazil via VLI’s Inacio Barbosa Maritime Terminal. The cement cargo will be transported from Votorantim’s Laranjeiras works in Sergipe to the terminal to be transferred to other Votorantim units.
