Pakistan's first coal/cement terminal begins operation

Pakistan's first state-of-the-art coal, clinker and cement bulk terminal has commenced operations at Port Qasim, Karachi. According to a statement by Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Ltd (PIBTL), bulk carrier African Finfoot became the inaugural vessel to call at the terminal, transporting 41,510t of coal for importer and exporter Awan Trading. UltraTech Cement FY17 sales edge ahead

UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla group company, yesterday reported consolidated sales for FY17 of INR250.92bn (US$3.89bn) against INR248.8bn in the previous year. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax of INR58.61bn was nine per cent higher and profit after tax up 10 per cent YoY to INR27.15bn. Indonesia: Chinese plant begins production in West Papua

A new cement plant funded by China’s State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC) has begun operations in the Indonesian state of West Papua, China Daily reports. The 1.5Mta plant was designed by Anhui Conch and forms part of SDIC’s wider investment strategy in Indonesia. The plant was built at a cost of CNY2.2bn (US$329m) over a 16-month period. India: Shree Cement completes Aurangabad grinding unit upgrade

Shree Cement has announced the completion of the upgrade works to its Aurangabad grinding plant in Bihar, Business Standard reports. Capacity at the plan rose from 2Mta to 3.6Mta, effective from 22 June 2016. Shree’s shares rose by three per cent after it made the news public. Shree Cement is in the process of expanding clinker production at its Raipur works with that upgrade expected to be completed by March 2018.

PPC has unveiled a new expansion strategy that envisages doubling the business every 10 years and growing beyond its traditional markets in Africa. Philippines: Norzagaray plant inaugurates Horomill grinding mill

Republic Cement & Building Materials Inc inaugurated a 0.85Mta grinding mill at its cement plant in  Norzagaray, Bulacan province, Philippines, on Tuesday. Renato Sunico, president of Republic Cement, said that the FCB Horomill will lift the cement plant's total grinding capacity to 1.85Mta. The Norzagaray unit now comes under the wing of newly-formed CRH-Aboitiz Co following the divestment of assets by Lafarge Republic Inc last year.

Saudi: Eastern Province Cement Co begins trial operations of new mill

Eastern Province Cement Co has commenced trial operations of its new 150tph cement mill, with commercial operations set to begin in the second quarter of this year, according to a bourse statement issued Monday. Holcim New Zealand officially opened its new cement terminal at the Port of Timaru on Thursday.
