UltraTech commissions Haryana grinding plant, India

UltraTech Cement has commissioned a 1.6Mta grinding unit at Jhajjhar in the northern Indian state of Haryana, lifting the company's total cement capacity to 63.1Mta. Clinker for the new grinding unit will be sourced from the company's Aditya Cement Works in neighbouring Rajasthan, where a new clinker line was also commissioned in March. With the additional grinding capacity, the company will be able to tap the northern region more effectively.

A newly-opened greenfield cement plant is set to boost Mongolia’s domestic supply of building materials at a time when the country is looking to stimulate new investment and construction. Rwanda prime minister Anastase Murekez on Tuesday inaugurated Cimerwa’s new dry-process line which boosts capacity at the plant from 0.1Mta to 0.6Mta. The Dangote Group on Tuesday inaugurated its 1.5Mta cement plant in Zambia together with a 30MW coal plant to power the factory. The  project was inaugurated by Zambia's President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, at Masasiti district, Ndola,  Zambia. The plant began operations in June and is selling both 32.5 and 42.5 grade cement to meet local needs.
