Vietnamese exports expected to rise 43% in September

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction (MoC) has estimated that the country’s cement exports will rise 43 per cent YoY to 2.2Mt in September. The country’s exports from Jan-Sept 2018 are estimated to have reached 23.28Mt, already surpassing the full-year target set by the MoC of 18-19Mt. Cement dispatches by Asocem members remained largely stable in August 2018 at 865,000t when compared with the year-ago period, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Vietnamese cement demand rose 14 per cent YoY to 5.44Mt in August 2018, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total, northern provinces accounted for 39.2 per cent or 2.13Mt of total domestic consumption while off-take in central Vietnam reached 1.42Mt or 26.2 per cent. Indonesia's cement and clinker exports have reached 3.62Mt in the January-August 2018 period an increase of 95.8 per cent YoY, reports Indonesian Investments. According to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), cement and clinker exports are now forecast to reach 5Mt by the end of 2018, which is massively up on the original target of 3Mt. According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$27.57m by exporting 617,745t of cement during the month of August 2018, compared to US$20.96m from exporting 475,134t of cement in previous month. Tajik cement exports increased to 0.92Mt in January-August 2018, a rise of 37 per cent in average monthly exports when compared with 2017, according to the country’s statistics agency. Iran’s cement exports expanded by 32 per cent during the first four months of the current fiscal year (20 March-22 July 2018), according to the country’s Customs Administration. The country exported cement to the value of US$107m, representing a 32 per cent YoY rise, and a volume of 2.7Mt, up 24 per cent YoY. Cement prices have started to decline in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, as competition intensifies on the back of a slowdown in the local construction sector. Argentine cement demand remained largely stable in August 2018 as it reached 1.115Mt when compared with 1.122Mt in August 2017, according to the latest data from AFCP, the country’s cement association.
