Brazil cement sales fall 3% YoY in July

Domestic cement sales in Brazil slipped 2.5 per cent to 4.589Mt in July when compared with the year-ago period when sales reached 4.709Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Argentina’s cement market contracted by 6.3 per cent in July 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the country cement association, AFCP. Domestic consumption fell from 1,016,589t in July 2017 to 952,220t one year later. Nationwide dispatches by Argentine producers declined to 949,680t fro 1,007,897t, down 5.8 per cent YoY. Pakistan cement sales up 5% YoY in July

Cement sales in Pakistan increased 5.1 per cent in the first month of FY18-19. In July, total cement dispatches rose to 3.554Mt from 3.382Mt in July 2017, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association. The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has announced 4,407,695t of cement exports in the first quarter of the calendar year (21 March 2018-21 June 2019), valued at over US$159.3m. The volume of exports was consistent compared to the year-ago period, according to MEHR News Agency. Jamaica's Caribbean Cement Co Ltd aims to restart exports next year following the completion of its expansion, according to the Jamaica Gleaner. The company stopped exports last year to focus on the project which is expected to be completed in 2018. Total cement consumption in Vietnam increased to 5.812Mt in June, representing a YoY rise of 126 per cent and a MoM fall of nine per cent, according to the Vietnam National Cement Assocation (VNCA). Pakistan cement industry observed a positive growth of 0.9 per cent and a contraction of -6.3 per cent in terms of quantity and value in dollars respectively between July and June 2018, according to  official government data. Peru’s cement market expanded by 5.7 per cent YoY to 0.865Mt in June 2018 and when compared with the previous month, largely stable, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. Brazil’s cement market contracted by 20.3 per cent YoY in May from 4.503Mt to 3.588Mt (excluding imports), according to the latest data published by SNIC, the country's cement association. A growth of 17 per cent was recorded by Bangladesh's cement industry in export revenues during FY17-18 (July 2017-June 2018), says data released by Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
