Pakistan's Kohat Cement Company announced that it will participate in the bidding process for the acquisition of 1.1bn ordinary shares of PKR10 each of Lafarge Pakistan, representing 75.86 per cent of the total issued and paid-up share capital of Lafarge Pakistan, according to local news service The News. The Pakistan cement industry is likely to post a MoM drop of 13 per cent of total dispatches in January 2014 as winter affected both domestic and export shipments, which were down by 13 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively. Pakistan cement producer Kohat Cement is planning to construct a 9MW waste heat recovery project (WHRP). Sources say the plant will reduce electricity dependency on the national grid by 38 per cent.
