Bestway Cement Ltd has informed Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on 30 Dec that it is considering acquiring the northern plant and related assets of Dewan Cement Ltd in Pakistan. Fauji Cement Company Ltd (FCCL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that a special Board of Directors of the company will be held on 9 December 2016 to discuss and approve the waste heat recovery power plant (WHRPP) for Line 1, and Wärtsilä's captive power plant at Jhang Bahtar, district Attock, Pakistan. FCCL plans to install 9MW WHRPP at its 3700tpd cement plant and a 16MW Wärtsilä power plant.

Pakistan: 98% capacity utilisation rate achieved

The Pakistan cement industry has achieved its highest-ever capacity utilisation rate at 98.61 per cent, dispatching 3.749Mt of cement in November 2016. This is up on the 3.377Mt registered in November 2015. Domestic consumption for the month in question reached 3.27Mt compared with 2.843Mt a year prior. Pakistan's cement manufacturers posted 12 per cent growth in their profits during the first quarter of the current fiscal year of 2016/17 on high sales and low financial cost, acocording to a Topline Securities research report.
