Pakistan cement producer Cherat Cement Company has disclosed that it will undertake another expansion of some 2.34Mta (7100tpd) at its existing site of Nowshera, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, in north of the country. Arif Habib Group has said that it is going to invest PKR25bn (US$238.5m) in a new cement plant to be completed in the next two years, to be operated by its subsidiary Power Cement. Bestway Cement Co and Pakistan Railways have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for transporting from Sindh to Punjab. Under the MoU coal would be transported from Port Qasim and Bin Qasim Railway Station to Ushman Khattar and Pind Dadan Khan Railway Station. During the first six months of current FY16-17, Pakistan's cement industry recorded a growth of 11.07 per cent in local dispatches, while exports declined 3.53 per cent compared during the same period of last year, respectively.
