Ukraine cement production rises 5% in June

Ukraine has recorded a 5.2 per cent YoY increase in cement production to 1.025Mt in June, a rise of 0.2 per cent on the previous month. In the first half of 2018, however, production declined 3.5 per cent YoY to 4.01Mt.

Cement production in the Czech Republic increased 2.5 per cent YoY to 4.03Mt in 2017, according to the Czech Cement Association. Similarly, consumption showed growth of 3.5 per cent YoY to 3.95Mt in the same period. Uzbekistan has recorded a 5.8 per cent YoY fall in cement production in the first half of 2018, decreasing to 3.95Mt from 4.20Mt in the year-ago period. Depending on the region of sale, both Kizilkumcement JSC and Bekabadcement JSC have set cement prices in the region of UZS430,000-490,000/t (US$55-62/t). Vietnamese consumption rises 30% YoY in June

Vietnamese cement consumption has increased 30 per cent YoY to 8.71Mt in June, according to the Construction Materials Department of the Ministry of Construction. Approximately 6.91Mt was sold domestically (up 29 percent YoY), while 1.8Mt was exported (up 35 per cent YoY). Consumption in the country rose 25 per cent YoY in the Jan-June 2018 period, rising to 51.42Mt. Exports reached 15.42Mt in the six-month period, meeting 85.6 per cent of the target volume for the year.

Chinese cement industry reaches record monthly profit

The profit of the Chinese cement industry reached a record monthly high of CNY14.7bn (US$2.3bn) in April, according to the China Cement Association. Over the first four months of 2018, profits increased 220 per cent YoY to CNY33.7bn. The profit surge has been attributed to the government scheme to reduce overcapacity in the sector, which has reduced the supply of cement, reports the Xinhua News Agency.
