Argentina records 6% fall in dispatches for August

Argentina has recorded a 5.8 per cent YoY decrease in cement dispatches to 1.052Mt for August 2019, compared with 1.117Mt in the year-ago period. Domestic dispatches fell to 1.047Mt from 1.113Mt, while exports declined to 4230t from 4611t in August 2018. The country’s demand was met by domestic production and as such, no imports were recorded for the month.

Indian cement demand growth forecast to slow in FY20

Growth in Indian cement demand is expected to slow to seven per cent in the FY19-20, against 13 per cent demand growth in the FY18-19, according to ICRA. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 7.9Mt of cement in August, an increase of 8.7 per cent YoY, according to the latest data from the country’s General Statistics Office. Therefore, the country’s total output in the first eight months of this year is likely to have advanced 7.6 per cent YoY to 63.1Mt.

Tajikistan has announced that around 2.328Mt of cement was produced in the country over the first seven months of 2019. According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, this is around 209,000t higher than in January-July 2018. In 2018, the Tajik cement industry produced over 3.844Mt of cement, a 23.3 per cent YoY increase.

The Czech Republic’s cement output increased 9.8 per cent YoY to 4.43Mt in 2018, the largest amount since 2008, according to data from the country’s cement producers’ association.
