Vietnam: Vicem monthly sales up 3.5%

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) said it sold 1.92Mt of cement and clinker last month, an increase of 3.5 per cent from a year ago. Of the volume, 1.64Mt of cement and clinker were sold in domestic market, up 1.9 per cent YoY, and 283,000t were exported, rising 14.1 per cent. Cement sales in Vietnam jumped 16 per cent YoY to 64.46Mt in the first 11 months of this year, fulfilling the whole-year target, according to the government’s data. Of the sum, 46.16Mt were sold in the domestic market, rising eight per cent YoY and meeting 94 per cent of the year’s plan. Vietnam monthly cement production up 6.7% YoY

Vietnam produced 5.6Mt of cement in November, up 5.7 per cent from October and 6.7 per cent from a year ago, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the first 11 months of this year, the country’s cement output rose 5.3 per cent YoY to 54Mt, the office noted in its monthly report. The GSO has also revised down the country’s cement output in October to 5.3Mt from the earlier estimated figure of 5.2Mt.

Dong Lam Cement JSC will invest VND4.7trn (US$221m) on a new plant in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue. The Dong Lam cement plant in Phong Dien district currently has a clinker and cement capacity of 5000tpd and 2Mta, respectively. Vietnam cement companies sold 41.54Mt of cement in the domestic market in the first 10 months of this year, including 4.27Mt in October, the country’s Ministry of Construction (MoC) said. Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan were the largest importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first nine months of this year, according to data released by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
