Vietnam exports seen rising

Exports of cement and clinker are forecast to increase by 27 per cent this year compared to 2011, according to forecasts by the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). As as the country attempts to reduce excess supplies, the VNCA expects clinker exports this year to reach 6.2Mt and cement exports to be around the 1.5Mt mark, bringing overall volumes to 7.7Mt. Vietnam-based producer Thang Long Cement JSC sold almost 1.3Mt of clinker and cement in the first six months, Thanh Nien reports. The firm has exported over 5000t of cement to Cambodia this year.

Vietnam first-half output seen down

Vietnam produced 27.3Mt of cement in the first half of this year, down 5.9 per cent from a year earlier, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) showed. During June, the country produced 5.5Mt, an increase of 15.8 per cent YoY, the GSO said in its monthly report. Indonesia's largest cement producer, PT Semen Gresik, says its planned expansion into Vietnam and Myanmar can be realised by year-end. Indonesian state producer, PT Semen Gresik, is planning to build a cement plant in Myanmar and is also looking to acquire a Vietnamese company, according to chief executive Dwi Soetjipto. Sadico Cantho Joint Stock Corporation (SDG) said it made a net profit of VND6.5bn (US$309,800) in Jan-March, an on-year growth of 51.87%. Revenues rose 19.5% on year to VND75.31bn, the company said in a quarterly financial report sent to the Hanoi Stock Exchange. Vietnam facing 6Mt surplus by year-end

Vietnam is projected to face a surplus of 6Mt of cement this year, the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA) said. Mai Son Cement Joint Stock Co has officially put its Mai Son cement plant into operation. The new cement plant is situated in Na Pat Hamlet, Na Bo Commune, Mai Son Dist, Son La province with design capacity of 2500tpd of clinker (1Mta of cement). The company said it will concentrate on producing three types of cement: PCB40, PCB30 and PC40.
