Cement sales in Puerto Rico reached 1.33m bags, or 56,711t, in August 2022. This represents an increase of 5.5 per cent YoY and of 18.8 per cent when compared with August 2019, according to Sin Comillas. Cement output expanded 34.9 per cent YoY to 33,643t in August 2022, up 34.9 per cent YoY. It is the fifth consecutive monthly increase and the largest in three months.

Moroccan cement deliveries see 5% dip in August

Cement deliveries in Morocco declined 5.4 per cent to 1,071,990t in August 2022 when compared with August 2021, when 1,132,900t was dispatched, according to the country’s cement association, APC. The data includes shipments by APC members Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. In the first eight months of 2022, shipments reached 8,208,743t, a drop of 7.2 per cent when compared with 8,841,025t in the year-ago period.

US cement demand up 7% in June

Portland and blended cement consumption in the USA and Puerto Rico increased seven per cent to 10.8Mt in June 2022, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement consumption in Argentina increased by 13.2 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 1,226,646t in August 2022, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In August 2021 demand reached 1,083,824t and in July 2022 1,146,900t was sold on the home market. Cement consumption in the Czech Republic saw a 5.2 per cent advance to 4.68Mt in 2021 when compared with the previous year, according to the Czech Cement Association. Chilean cement dispatches declined 23.6 per cent YoY in July 2022 to 276,554t when compared with July 2021 when 361,956t were dispatched, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. In the first seven months of 2022, deliveries were down 10.3 per cent YoY to 2,249,284t from 2,507,802t reported in the 7M21.
