Saudi producers prepare for discussions over export ban

Peru’s cement demand edges down in January

Cement consumption in Peru slipped by 0.4 per cent YoY from 816,000t in January 2015 to 813,000t in January 2016, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. In addition, clinker exports reached 28,000t, down 69 per cent, while cement exports fell by 29 per cent to 29,000t during the first month of 2016. Pakistan: Cherat Cement 1HFY16 profit rises 6%

Pakistan producer Cherat Cement Co reported a profit after tax of PKR676.2m (US$6.48m) in the first half of FY16 versus PKR639.8m a year earlier, which translates to a six per cent YoY rise. Pakistan recorded a marked fall in exports over the first six months of the current fiscal, largely on the back of weaker demand and increased competition.   Export revenues were down by 36.54 per cent YoY during the July-December period (ie, 6MFY15-16) to US$170.46m, according to data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan cement dispatches increased by 6.38 per cent to 21.3Mt in the first seven months of the current fiscal compared to 20Mt in the corresponding period of FY14-15, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association. Lithuania's sole cement manufacturer Akmenes Cementas posted a decline of around six per cent in 2015 revenue to EUR55.4m from EUR59.2m a year earlier. Cement consumption in Spain has increased by 5.3 per cent to 11,408,287t in 2015, according to Oficemen, the country's cement association. Cement industry statistics show that full-year 2015 consumption in Indonesia increased by 0.8 per cent YoY to 60.4Mt, while including exports, sales were up by 2.1 per cent to 61.448Mt. Peru’s cement dispatches remained stable in December 2015 as they reached 881,000t while total dispatches edged up one per cent to 928,000t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ association. Companies in Vietnam sold 72.71Mt of cement and clinker in 2015, rising three per cent from a year earlier and exceeding the whole-year target by one per cent, the country's Ministry of Construction said.
