Companies in Vietnam sold 72.71Mt of cement and clinker in 2015, rising three per cent from a year earlier and exceeding the whole-year target by one per cent, the country's Ministry of Construction said. Bestway Group of the UK, parent company of Pakistan's largest cement producer, announced that its consolidated turnover for the year ending 30 June 2015 increased by 20 per cent to GBP3.06bn from GBP2.55bn in 2014. Vicem sets 2016 export target

Vietnam's largest cement producer, Vicem, has set an export target of 3Mt in 2016, comprising 1Mt of cement and 2Mt of clinker. In 2015 Vicem exported 2.1Mt, including 860,000t of cement and 1.245Mt of clinker. In the first 11 months of last year the state-owned corporation sold 20.06Mt of cement and clinker, up 2.9 per cent from a year earlier.

Argentina’s demand rises 3.6% YoY in December

In December 2015 Argentina’s cement producers dispatched 937,907t of cement, including exports, which represents a fall of 5.9 per cent MoM but a 3.6 per cent increase YoY, according to provisional figures published by AFCP, the country’s cement association. Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, sold 20.06Mt of cement and clinker in the first 11 months of 2015, up 2.9 per cent from a year earlier. Pakistan exports fell to 2.63Mt in the first five months of the current fiscal, down 32.62 per cent YoY, official government data reveals. In terms of revenue, exports declined 35.79 per cent during the July-November 2015 period to US$147.55m. Cement demand in Indonesia is expected to rise by 5.5-6 per cent in 2016, according to Semen Padang's marketing director, Pudjo Suseno. Sales on the island of Sumatra, where Semen Padang is headquartered, are forecast to advance 16.6 per cent in 2016. In the first 10 months of 2015, dispatches reached 10.4Mt, up 2.3 per cent YoY. Semen Padang also expects to maintain exports at 4-5 per cent of total output in 2016.
