Zambezi Portland Cement Limited (ZPC) has reduced its export sales by 50 per cent, effective from 1 August  2013, to cater for the increased demand of the product on the local market. The Brazilian market is offering Spain’s Cementos Cosmos the opportunity to maintain its clinker production at a high level. Cement exports from Indonesia increased in July as domestic demand slows and new capacity comes on-stream. India-based Star Cement said it has dispatched its first barge of clinker to Bangladesh via river. Pakistan reported a decline in dispatches for the first month of fiscal FY13-14 as the pace of construction slowed due to monsoon rains and Ramadan. During July 2013 (the first month of FY13-14), local cement sales fell 10.43 per cent YoY to 1.846Mt compared to 2.060Mt in July 2012. Lafarge Cement Zambia has reduced its exports by 15 per cent due to buoyant domestic construction market needs. Pakistan export earnings rise in FY12-13

In the fiscal year ending 30 June 2013, Pakistan exported 9.073Mt of cement on revenues of US$577.73m compared to 8.748Mt at US$498.84m in the corresponding period of last year. These latest figures from Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics show that export volumes rose by 3.71 per cent while in dollar value terms, they were 15.81 per cent higher compared to the comparative period a year earlier. Uruguay’s ANCAP will be exporting 0.6Mt of Portland cement to Argentina and Paraguay, thanks to the expansion of its Paysandú works. For the first six months of the year, Vietnam sales were 22.68Mt, according to latest data from the Ministry of Construction (MoC). The amount represents 46.8 per cent of the full-year target, the MoC added. Output stood at 24.7Mt, making up 44.1 per cent of its whole year target.
