CIMAF expects to launch construction on a second production line at CimGabon's Owendo works, near Libreville, in less than two months. CIMAF starts commercial production in Chad

CIMAF has started commercial operations of its Lamadji plant in Chad following a ceremony led by the country’s Minister of Mines and Industrial and Commercial Development, Youssouf Abassalah. Inaugurated on 12 June 2017, the CAF23bn works has a cement capacity of 0.5Mta, with the option to expand to 1Mta. A modest fall in domestic cement prices is expected as the facility enters commercial operation.

Plycem-owned Cemento Fortaleza will move from being a distributor of cement in Costa Rica to a local producer. The company recently commissioned a new cement plant in Esparza, Puntarenas. The US$17m project includes German production technology and was built on a 50,000m 3 plot. The new plant will directly and indirectly employ more than 200 people.

The government of Himachal Pradesh is to approve a mining lease for the set-up of a white cement plant. Paraguay's INC to inaugurate new Villeta mill

Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) will inaugurate its new US$11.5m cement mill tomorrow, enabling the plant to increase production by 50 per cent, according the cement company. The new 80tph mill has been operational since February, working in parallel with the old mill, which was installed in 1985. Output is expected to rise to 390,000t at Villeta. As a result, the company expects to increase its market share from a current 51 per cent to 70-75 per cent and increase revenues by US$50m.
