Saudi Arabia: Yamama Cement secures US$266m for new plant

Saudi Arabia's Yamama Cement Company has secured SAR1bn (US$266.6m) to partially fund the building of a new plant, it said on Monday. The three-year financing includes SAR750m from National Commercial Bank and SAR250m from Samba Financial Group, the company said in its statement. The company signed a SAR4.2bn contract with thyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions in November 2015 to build the works, it said at the time. Zimbabwe: Mortal Investments plant complete

The construction of Mortal Investments Manufacturing Co’s US$10m plant in Redcliff, Zimbabwe, has been completed. The Chinese investor begun construction of the new plant in August after purchasing a 100,000m 2 plot of land. According to Redcliff Municipality Mayor, Councillor Fred Kapuya, the plant is in its test run phase, which is expected to be completed early 2017.

Medcem Cameroon to officially open 16 Dec

Medcem Cameroon, owned by the Turkey-based Eren Holdings, will officially open its Douala plant on Friday, 16 December. Shree Cement awaits environmental clearance for West Bengal grinding unit

Shree Cement is awaiting environmental clearance for its cement grinding unit in West Bengal, India. The company plans to build a 5Mta grinding plant at Prabatpur and Digha villages, Raghunathpur, Puralia district. The estimated INR6bn (US$88m) project also includes a 20MW coal- and petcoke-based captive power unit. A public hearing is scheduled for 9 December 2016. Shree Cement is yet to finalise the contractor and equipment supplier for the project.

Revenue advanced by 21 per cent to NGN442.1bn (US$1.4bn), compared to NGN365bn in the same period last year. Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMSB) has said it will be able produce a year-round reliable supply of cement following the commissioning of its third and largest plant in Mambong, Sarawak.
