Mongolia clinker line successfully carries out ignition

The 1Mta clinker line constructed by China Triumph International Engineering Co for China United Cement Co was ignited according to schedule on 10 June 2016. The step indicates that the project enters a stage of regular production despite challenge faced by the construction team. Extreme cold and blizzards hindered the building of the production line while labour shortages and restricted work visa added further issues.

Georgia: construction on 1.5Mta Senaki works started

Construction on a 1.5Mta cement plant in Senaki, Shmegrelo region in western Georgia, has started. The project is an investment of US$120m by Black Sea Cement LLC, a partnership between Georgian businessman Cezar Chocheli and China’s Hualing Group. Semen Indonesia has reported a five per cent YoY fall in revenue in the first three months of 2016 to IDR6021bn, due to a combination of lower volume and price. Following consumption growth of 3.4 per cent in 2015, the company says that it forecasts sales to rise by 3-5 per cent this year. Bolivia: Yacuses expected to produce cement in December

Work on the 0.87Mta Yacuses cement plant, owned by Itacamba Cemento, in the Germán Busch province of Bolivia, 590km from Santa Cruz, has been completed by 70 per cent, according to the latest reports in the local press. First clinker is expected to be produced in November, with first cement leaving the production line in December. Equipment for the US$220m works was delivered by China-based Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute.

Dangote Group has signed a US$2bn loan with the Industrial Commercial Bank of China Ltd for its two new cement plans in Nigeria. Work has already begun on one factory in Okpella in the south of the country, which is due to start production in mid-2018.
