Shuaiba awarded Saudi packaging contract

Kuwait-based paper manufacturer Shuaiba Industrial Co said yesterday in a bourse filing it had won a KWD335,000 (US$1.2m) contract to supply cement bags to an unnamed Saudi cement firm. The contract is valid through 2011. In early February, Shuaiba Industrial Co said its net profit dropped to KWD1.2m in 2010 from KWD1.67m a year earlier.

New contract for Sinoma, China

Sinoma International Engineering subsidiary Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction has won an engineering contract from Hami Tianshan Cement to build a 5000tpd dry-process line. Sinoma’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Chengdu Design and Research Institute of Building Materials Industry, also won a contract to build the line for Kuche Tianshan Cement.

In the second-half 2010, Gebr Pfeiffer secured an order from Wonder Cement Ltd, a new player on the Indian cement market. Wonder Cement is setting up a greenfield plant in Tehsil Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district where the 6500-7000tpd kiln will be fed by an MPS 5600 B raw mill. Cemex UK has ordered 15 new Caterpillar machines for its UK quarry network. The order placed with Cat distributor Finning is for seven wheel loaders, six hydraulic excavators, a Cat 735 articulated dump truck and a Cat D6N LGP track-type tractor.
