Sales in Indonesia increased by 7.9 per cent in October, having experienced slowing growth in recent months. Data from the Indonesian Cement Association shows October sales reached 5.58Mt, rebounding from 5.3 per cent growth in the previous month. Pakistan cement dispatches in November fell six per cent compared to the previous month but cement prices have risen by four per cent since the start of the current fiscal. Preliminary data shows that dispatches declined to 2.6Mt in November 2013 as the onset of winter hampers sales. However, on a YoY basis, sales were down by only two per cent. Colombia’s cement production jumped 18.4 per cent YoY to 1.4Mt in October while deliveries increased by 13.9 per cent to 1.032Mt, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Norte de Santander noted the biggest rise in deliveries with 52.2 per cent, followed by Caldas (31.5 per cent), Bolivar (27.3 per cent), Ontario (27 per cent) and Antioquia (17.7 per cent). Vietnam has reported a double-digit rise in sales over the first 11 months of the year, with exports up 63 per cent YoY. A total of 55.2Mt of cement was sold over Jan-Nov 2013, up 13 per cent from a year earlier, Le Van Toi, director of the Building Material Department, said. Pakistan cement sales in the first four months of the current fiscal slipped 0.39 per cent, while capacity utilisation stood at 70 per cent due to heavy monsoons and Eid holidays, a spokesperson from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association has said. Cement shipments in Peru reached 939,135t in October, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. For the Jan-Oct period, deliveries increased by eight per cent YoY. Asocem members exported 18,090t of cement in October.

Ecuador October cement sales see monthly, annual gains

Cement sales in Ecuador totaled 611,987t in October 2013, an increase of 4.4 per cent YoY, the Institute of Cement and Concrete (INECYC) has reported. Brazil sees rise in monthly cement sales

Preliminary data and market estimates show that cement sales in Brazil during October reached 6.5Mt, a 4.7 per cent YoY increase from the same period of last year. Data from local cement association SNIC shows that over the first nine months of the year, sales totalled 58.9Mt, a YoY increase of 2.4 per cent. For the 12 months between November 2012-October 2013, sales reached 69.7Mt, representing an increase of 2.2 per cent on the comparative period of the previous year.

Vicem sees significant rise in exports in first 10 months

In the first 10 months, Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sales rose by 9.2 per cent YoY to 17.65Mt, including a significant rise in exports. Russia-based Lipetskcement, part of the Eurocement Group Holding, produced a total of 1.33Mt of cement, an increase of 27.9 per cent (247,350t) compared to the the first three quarters of 2012.
