Iranian cement consumption grows 13% in April

The Iranian cement market expanded 12.5 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt in April 2023, according to the Iranian Cement Association. Domestic cement production stood at 4.89Mt (up 7.2 per cent YoY), while clinker output reached 7.26Mt (+3.9 per cent YoY). In terms of exports, the industry’s performance was more muted. Cement exports declined 8.6 per cent to 0.384Mt when compared with the equivalent period of the previous year. Clinker exports fell by 30 per cent YoY 0.553Mt.

Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co has placed an order with Sinoma International Engineering Co for two new 5000tpd production lines at its Jazan cement plant. Cement sales in Iran reached 5.87Mt in March 2023, up 2.6 per cent when compared with March 2022, when 5.71Mt were sold, according to the Iranian Cement Association. There were no reports of imports and domestic cement production stood at 6.28Mt in March 2023, representing a 10.8 per cent YoY advance. Arabian Cement reports 17% drop in 1Q profit

Arabian Cement Co posted a net profit after zakat and tax of SAR49.2m (US$13.1m) in the 1Q23, down 17.4 per YoY from SAR41.9m. It was 40.2 per cent higher QoQ when compared with SAR35.1m in the 4Q22. The company’s sales declined 7.4 per cent YoY to SAR240.1m in the 1Q23 when compared with SAR259.3m in the equivalent period of the previous year, according to Mubasher.
