Dyckerhoff selects Pavilion Technologies

Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in advanced process control (APC) has been selected by Dyckerhoff AG to implement kiln and mill Advanced Process Control (APC) solutions across several sites in Europe. Pavilion’s advanced process control (APC) solutions will enable Dyckerhoff to stabilise production while further increasing the company’s use of alternative fuels, consistently reducing operating costs, and supporting the company’s culture of continuous improvement.

Dyckerhoff AG is using alternative fuels in a considerable amount for cement kiln operation. As part of Pavilion’s ValueFirst program, Dyckerhoff piloted an initial kiln project at the company’s site in Lengerich, Germany. The company chose to address an important issue for many cement manufacturers - reliable and increased use of alternative fuels without compromising production performance goals. The initial solution controlled a pre-calciner that handled three different fuels. Based upon the success of this pilot project and the estimated return on investment of less than two years, the company elected an enterprise deployment of Pavilion’s APC solutions across the cement production process.

"Pavilion’s APC solutions have demonstrated significant value to our operations through improving our utilisation of alternative fuels," said Herbert Reckziegel, Director of Technical Department of Dyckerhoff. "Pavilion offers with the Process Perfecter a very good tool for optimisation of the cement manufacturing process. Their unique approach delivers value to the customer, speed of implementation and low total cost of ownership."

Pavilion’s state-of-the art advanced process control solutions address pressing needs in the cement industry. Pavilion’s multi-variable model predictive control cement solutions will enable Dyckerhoff to maximize the use of alternative fuels, stabilize production and enhance quality while minimizing the effects of process upsets to maximise efficiency.

"This partnership with an industry leader like Dyckerhoff confirms there is a better way to address the everyday needs of cement manufacturers," said Pavilion President and CEO Ralph Carter. "Pavilion delivers improved performance with measurable results better than anyone else in the industry, and we are continuing that success with Dyckerhoff."
