Labroy to build cement carrier
25 June 2004

Singapore owner and shipbuilder Labroy Marine is to build a 20,200dwt cement carrier worth SGD40m (US$23.6m).

The Singapore-listed shipbuilder has not disclosed the identity of the owner behind the order. The ship is due for delivery in April 2006. The value of the contract represents nearly 20 per cent of Labroy’s current order backlog, which now stands at a record SGD 204m.

Labroy, which has newbuilding facilities in Singapore and Indonesia, says its current workload should keep its shipbuilding division busy until 2006.

Last week US owner Seabulk confirmed a $14.8m order at Labroy for an 8000hp anchor-handling tug/supply (AHTS) ship.
