A collapse of a building near one of the kilns of Holcim’s 1.4Mta Obourg plant in Belgium on 23 May has resulted in the death of one worker and the closure of the plant as an investigation takes place into the causes of the collapse.
Emergency services were promptly at the scene but the heavy damage to the structure of the building required further specialist help to locate the at first missing 34 year-old employee, who had worked for Holcim for the past 10 years.
Holcim has undertaken steps to guarantee the safety of the site and its staff as well as supporting the family of the worker.
