France-based company Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies is joining forces with Norske Skog Golbey, the country’s leading paper recycler, to integrate ash from the paper-making process into the production of Hoffmann Green's zero per cent clinker cement in a new strategic partnership announced on 12 May.
The two companies have been collaborating since January 2024 on how to convert ash from paper production residues in both laboratory and real-life conditions, with conclusive results. In May 2025 the shipping of a tanker full of ash validated the new material’s deployment on an industrial scale in the formulation of Hoffmann Green's zero per cent cement clinker, paving the way for its deployment on future construction sites.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Norske Skog Golbey will now provide Hoffmann Green with a regular supply of fly ash, thereby supporting decarbonisation of the industrial sector.
Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies co-founders, Julien Blanchard and David Hoffmann, comment: "We are very pleased to have signed this partnership with Norske Skog Golbey, with whom we share the same conviction: the circular economy is a concrete response to the challenges of our time. This partnership demonstrates that cooperation between industries is a fantastic vector for environmental innovation. It also illustrates Hoffmann Green's determination to pursue the excellent environmental performance of its zero per cent clinker cements through its high added-value research and development capabilities."
