India’s Birla Corp has been restricted from mining limestone in Chittorgarh and near the Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary after a new order by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday. India’s Birla Corp Ltd reported a INR270m (US$3.76m) net profit for the third quarter ending 31 December 2018, up from a INR220m net loss of the previous year’s period. The growth was recorded despite an increase in the cost of petcoke and coal. RCCPL announces grinding plant expansion

India's Birla Corp has announced that it plans to carry out the second phase of expansion at the grinding plant of its RCCPL subsidiary in Kundanganj, Uttar Pradesh. The project includes the installation of a 1.2Mta third line, increasing total plant capacity to 3.2Mta. The plans are expected to be completed in the FY20-21 at an investment cost of INR2.5bn (US$34.23m).

India's Birla Corp Ltd has announced that its RCCPL subsidiary plans to set up a 3.9Mta facility in Mukutban, Maharashtra, at an investment cost of INR24.5bn (US$356.8m). Birla Corp is due to put its proposal plans for a greenfield plant at Mukutban near Yavatmal district, India, before its board of directors for approval. Cost efficiencies and good price realisations helped India-based Birla Corp post strong results in the final quarter of FY16-17. Birla Corp reported a saw its net profit fall from INR139.9m (US$2.09m) in 3QFY15-16 to INR20.9m in 3QFY16-17. The company attributed the decrease to higher borrowing costs on account of the company’s acquisition of Reliance Cement Co and the reduction of treasury income as internal accruals were used to fund the purchase.
