Chile’s cement dispatches fall 23% in November

Cement dispatches in Chile saw a 22.9 per cent YoY drop to 300,800t in November 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the January-November 2022 period total dispatches reached 3.492Mt, down 13 per cent YoY from 4.015Mt in the year-ago equivalent period.

Cement demand in Chile has dropped by 15 per cent to 348,665t in October 2022, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In October 2021 cement demand reached 410,424t. In the January-October period, demand fell by 12 per cent YoY to 3,190,518t from 3,624,776t in the 10M21.

Empresas Melón to close Peñalolén plant

Chile-based Empresas Melón has announced the closure of its ready-mix concrete plant in Peñalolén, near Santiago. Cement consumption in Chile declined by 12.5 per cent YoY to 292,714t in September 2022 from 334,603t in the year-ago period, according to the CChC, the Chilean construction chamber. In the January-September 2022, demand contracted by 11.6 per cent to 2,841,853t from 3,214,352t in the 9M21.

August dispatches in Chile fall 19%

Cement deliveries in Chile saw a 19.4 per cent drop in August 2022 to 299,855t, compared to 371,947t in August 2021, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In the first eight months of 2022, dispatches were down 11.5 per cent YoY to 2,549,139t versus 2,879,749t in the 8M21.

Chilean cement producer Cementos Bío-Bío (CBB) saw a 15.3 per cent increase in sales to CLP155,089m in the first half of 2022 when compared with the CLP134,538m reported for the 1H21. Chilean cement dispatches declined 23.6 per cent YoY in July 2022 to 276,554t when compared with July 2021 when 361,956t were dispatched, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC.
