Chile’s dispatches increase 1% in July

Cement dispatches in Chile were up by 1.4 per cent YoY to 280,545t in July 2023 from 276,554t in July 2022, says the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. However, in the January-July 2023 period, the country’s cement market contracted by 7.6 per cent YoY to 2.079Mt from 2.249Mt in the first seven months of 2022.

Chilean cement demand sees 15% drop in June

Cement demand in Chile (excluding imports) decreased by 14.6 per cent YoY to 254,120t in June 2023 from 297,514t in June 2022, reports the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. In the first half of 2023 demand fell by 8.8 per cent to 1,798,638t from 1,972,730t in the 1H22.

Chile’s cement demand contracts 4% in May 2023

Chilean cement dispatches declined 3.5 per cent YoY to 318,599t in May 2023 from 330,114t in May 2022, according to the national construction chamber, CChC. However, when compared with April 2023, cement demand increased by 6.2 per cent. In the first five months of 2023, dispatches decreased by 7.8 per cent to 1,544,518t from 1,675,216t in the 5M22.

Chile’s cement market contracts 4% in April

Cement dispatches in Chile declined 4.2 per cent YoY to 299,858t in April 2023 from 313,101t in April 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the January-April 2023 period cement sales were down 8.9 per cent YoY to 1,225,919t from 1,345,102t in the 4M22.

Cement sales in Chile fall 10% in March

Chile’s cement market contracted by 10.3 per cent YoY to 328,003t in March 2023 from 365,8926t in March 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the January-March 2023 period sales were down 10.3 per cent to 926,061t from 1,032,001t in the first quarter of 2022.

Andrés Segú Undurraga resigns from Polpaico Board

Andrés Segú Undurraga has resigned from his position as director of Cemento Polpaico SA, Chile. His respective alternative director, José Tomás Edwards Alcalde, also resigned on 21 April. The company’s Board of Directors agreed to appoint Alejandro Gevert Detto as Mr Segú’ replacement, who will serve in this position until the next ordinary shareholders’ meeting when the Board of Director must be completely renewed.

CBB to implement a new AF project at Teno

CBB and Ambipar Environment’s general managers announced the implementation of a project that will enable the cement producer to recover energy from non-recyclable waste at CBB’s Teno plant in Curicó, Maule Region, Chile. Cement dispatches in Chile fell by 9.5 per cent to 288,761t in February 2023 from 309,297t in February 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the first two months of 2023, deliveries declined by 10.2 per cent YoY to 598,058t from 666,175t in the year-ago period.

Cemento Polpaico sees 70% drop in profits in 2022

Chile’s Cemento Polpaico , owned by the Hurtado Vicuña Group , reported a 16.9 per cent increase in revenue in 2022 to CLP368,391m when compared with 2021 when revenue reached CP315,273m.
