Chile's top three cement companies - Cemento Melon, Cementos Polpaico and Cementos Bio Bio - recorded a 3.7 per cent YoY rise in sales to CLP339.82bn (USD510.48m) in the first six months of 2016. Chile’s Cementos Bío-Bío saw its profits during the first half of 2016 fall by 10.1 per cent to CLP9168.69m from CLP10,200.19m reported in 1H15. Revenues increased 6.6 per cent from CLP142,479.58m in 1H15 to CLP151,900m.

Chilean cement producer Cementos Bío Bío saw its profits rise by 4.17 per cent to CLP21,141.17m (US$31.32m) in 2015 when compared with CLP20,295.75m noted the previous year. Income advanced 4.45 per cent from CLP283,525.81m in 2014 to CLP296,137.8m one year later.

Chile: Cemento Polpaico's photovoltaic park gets environmental green light

Chile's environmental authorities have approved a plan of local cement maker Cemento Polpaico SA  for the construction of a 23.5-MW photovoltaic (PV) park as part of the central system SIC. The approval, published on Friday, envisages the installation of 243,120 modules near Cemento Polpaico's Cerro Blanco industrial plant in Tiltil, Chacabuco province. Chile: Cemento Polpaico to pay US$14.6m in back-taxes

Cemento Polpaico reported that the Chilean tax office (SII) has ordered the cement producer to pay U$14.6m in back-taxes for the years 2012 and 2013. Liquidations have led to US$7.2m outstanding with the country’s revenue authorities, with adjustments, interest and fines by SII increasing the amount payable to US$14.6m. Polpaico indicated that it believes the adjustments are unfounded and incorrect and is expected to complain to the relevant tax authorities.

Chile: Cemento Melon sees 310% 9M14 profit surge

Chilean cement producer Cemento Mélon has reported a 310 per cent YoY rise in pretax profits from CLP1.077bn (US$1.79m) to CLP4.855bn in the first nine months of 2014, according to ValorFuturo news service. However, revenues fell by six per cent to CLP142.793bn from CLP151.956bn over the period. Nevertheless, the cost of sales came in at CLP95.1bn, about five per cent lower than the figure recorded for 9M13 (CLP100.6bn).

Chile's Cementos Bío Bío restructures Corpbanca and BCI loan

Chilean cement producer Cementos Bío Bío has reached a finance agreement with Corpbanca and BCI to restructure a loan taken out in August 2012. The CLP120bn (US$206m) loan has a maturity of seven years and a two-year grace period. The loan will be repaid in 20 quarterly installments, starting 17 November 2016. The debt restructuring is expected to enable the cement company to face a contraction in the cement market in an improved financial position.
