German cement demand reaches 26.6Mt in 2015

German cement consumption reached approximately 26.6Mt in 2015, some 2.2 per cent less than the previous year, according to German Cement Works Association (VDZ). Spanish demand up 8.4% in February

Demand for cement in Spain has grown 8.4 per cent YoY to 891,297t in February, according to the latest figures of Oficemen, the country’s cement association. According to Aniceto Zaragoza, Oficemen’s general director, the data are consistent with the association’s forecast for 2016 which expects the cement market to grow by seven per cent. For the first two months of 2016, demand reached 1,638,713t, representing a 3.9 per cent YoY advance.

Colombia January cement consumption up 3%

In January 2016 Colombia’s cement market expanded by three per cent to 0.956Mt from 0.928Mt in the same month a year earlier, according to latest data from country’s statistics office, DANE. Growth was particularly strong in Córdoba (+44.1 per cent), Risaralda (+42 per cent), Norte de Santander (+33.5 per cent) and Valle del Cauca (+10.7 per cent). Cement production increased 7.3 per cent YoY to 0.966Mt in January, from 0.9Mt in January 2015.

Dominican Republic: market expands, prices fall

National cement production in the Dominican Republic reached 5.18Mt, an increase of 3.2 per cent YoY, according to official statistics. This represents 75 per cent of the country’s installed production capacity of 6.91Mt. Meanwhile, the domestic market expanded by 6.2 per cent when compared with 2014. Cement production in Senegal rose 12.9 per cent in 2015 when compared with the previous year, according to the country’s Directorate of Economic Forecasting and Studies (DPEE). Cement producers Sococim and Cements du Sahel expanded their output from 4,939,200t in 2014 to 5,576,000t in 2015.
