Indonesian sales down 5.8% In August

Indonesian cement sales fell 5.8 per cent to 3.3Mt in August 2013, according to latest data from the Indonesian Cement Association. Compared to July 2013, cement sales in Indonesia were down by 32 per cent, however, there was an almost two-week holiday in August (the Idul Fitri or Lebaran festivities that follow after the holy fasting month of Ramadan). Brazil's August cement sales slip 1.2%

Cement sales in Brazil fell 1.2 per cent YoY in August 2013 to 6.4Mt, latest data from local association SNIC shows. During the first eight months of the year, sales reached 46.4Mt, a rise of 1.9 per cent compared to the same period of the year before. Over the 12 month period of September 2012-August 2013, sales amounted to 69.2Mt, representing an increase of 2.1 per cent on the comparative period a year earlier (ie, September 2011-August 2012).

Poland sees double-digit declines, Jan-Aug

Cement production and sales in Poland have seen a double-digit drop in the first eight months of the year, latest data from the country’s cement association, SPC, shows. Between January-August 2013, cement output declined by 15.2 per cent to 9.092Mt while sales were down by 14.8 per cent to 9.295Mt. In August alone, production in Poland fell by 1.9 per cent YoY in August 2013 to 1.576Mt. Sales for the month declined by 3.9 per cent to 1.616Mt.

Argentine monthly shipments rise 24% YoY

During August 2013, Argentine Portland cement factories shipped 1,076,148t (including exports), representing an increase of six per cent compared to July 2013 and a rise of 25 per cent against the same month of last year. Data from local association AFCP showed that domestic cement consumption, including imports, reached 1,074,393 t , exhibiting a r ise of 6.9 per cent compared to the previous month and 27.7 per cent YoY.
