Bolivia to import more cement as demand rises

The manager of Insumos Bolivia, Óscar Sandi, said if the seasonal demand for cement in Bolivia continues to growth, the state-owned body will increase cement imports. "I do not think there were supply problems as such, there may have been delays in deliveries, but (the supply) is guaranteed. If there is unmet demand, we will import according to the volumes required, " he said. Official data indicated that cement output in the first half of 2013 rose 8.5 per cent YoY.

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in May 2013 were about 7.77Mt, up by nearly three per cent YoY, according to the latest statistics from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Philippine cement sales rose 8.8 per cent in the second quarter of 2013, data from the Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) showed yesterday. Sales in the second quarter increased to 5.349Mt sold from 4.915Mt in the same period last year. Cement sales in the first half of the year also rose by 6.2 per cent to 10.136Mt from 9.546Mt in the corresponding period of the year before.
