Peru's cement consumption expanded five per cent to 0.861Mt in January 2018 when compared with the previous year, but fell eight per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Pakistani cement exports during the first seven months of current financial year, July 2017-January 2018, recorded a fall of 15.4 per cent in volume and 18.7 per cent by value in dollars, says data released by Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics. Vietnam exported 2.9Mt of cement and clinker, valued at US$101.12m in January, representing YoY increases of 32.2 and 30.3 per cent, respectively, according to the country’s General Department of Vietnam Customs. Bangladesh, the Philippines, Peru, Mozambique, Malaysia and Taiwan remained the biggest importers of Vietnamese cement and clinker.

Argentina’s cement dispatches up 17% in January

Argentine cement producers dispatches 1,030,280t of cement, including exports, in January, up 3.2 per cent MoM and 17.3 per cent YoY, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. The domestic market (including imports) expanded by 3.9 per cent MoM and 19.4 per cent YoY as manufacturers delivered 1,043,651t.  Private consultants expect the market to continue its growth path in the next few years at an annual rate of seven per cent.

Cement sales in the US increased modestly in 2017 with a value of around US$12.4bn and an apparent consumption of 96.8Mt, up from 94.2Mt in 2016, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Uruguayan cement producers sold 203.100t of cement in 3Q17, representing a 3.4 per cent YoY. While 159,900t was sold in the domestic market, cement manufacturers shipped 43,600t for export.
