KHD's first-quarter revenue down, order intake increases

KHD Humboldt Wedag reported a 15.4 per cent decline in revenue for 1Q15 to EUR50.7m compared to the first quarter of the previous year, while the order intake increased but was "still not entirely satisfactory," according to the German equipment supplier. Order intake was EUR58.3m for the January-March 2015 period, higher than the level reached in the first quarter of the previous year (EUR25.3m). Gebr Pfeiffer SE wins Saudi order for cement VRM

Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Bldg Materials Industry Co Ltd, headquartered in China, placed an order with Gebr Pfeiffer SE for the supply of an MPS 3070 BC cement mill for Readymix in Saudi Arabia. The mill with an installed drive power of 1100kW will grind 30tph of granulated blastfurnace slag and 46tph of OPC to a fineness of 4000cm²/g and 3600cm²/g, respectively. Delivery of equipment is scheduled for 2015.

Buzzi improves in the USA & central Europe

Buzzi Unicem's first-quarter turnover increased by 3.4 per cent to EUR513.39m and the EBITDA went from a EUR10.26m to EUR27.15m. The loss at the trading level was reduced by 48.6 per cent to EUR19.24m. Net financial charges increased by 31.3 per cent to EUR43.01m giving a seasonal pre-tax loss 24.5 per cent lower at EUR46.16m. Buzzi Unicem returns to a net profit

On a turnover just 0.1 per cent lower at EUR2506.4m, Buzzi Unicem's underlying EBITDA did increase by 7.1 per cent to EUR404.8m in 2014, while at the headline level there was a 4.8 per cent advance to EUR422.7m. KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG (KHD) reported EBIT of EUR 1.1m in the 2014 financial year, despite slightly lower revenue. Cement consumption in Germany rose by 2.2 per cent YoY in 2014 to 27.1Mt, according to data German Cement Works Association (VDZ), which also predicts further growth in 2015. The Supervisory Board of KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG (KHD) has appointed Johan Cnossen as a member of the Management Board, effective 1 May 2015.
