Hungary's Talentis acquires Lukavac

Hungary-based Talentis International Construction Investments kft has acquired Lukavac Cement dd for an undisclosed amount. Established in 1974, the Bosnian cement producer was previously owned by Asamer Baustoffe AG of Austria. It operates a 0.9Mta cement plant in Lukavac , near Tusla, northern Bosnia. Talentis is owned by Hungarian businessman and former politician Lorenz Meszaros.

Hungary levies excess-profit tax on construction material producers

Hungary's government has levied a 90 per cent excess-profit tax on some producers of construction materials from 9 July, in an effort aimed at curbing surging prices. The tax applies to companies that produce cement and other materials, including plaster, chalk, gravel, sand, clay, lime and gypsum, with annual revenue of HUF3bn (US$10.02m) or more in 2019. Duna-Dráva Cement completes plant renovation

Duna-Dráva Cement Kft has announced that a HUF7bn (US$26.12m) project to improve sustainability at its facility in Vác, Hungary, has been completed. Construction work took place between 2016-18, with the newly-renovated plant inaugurated on 18 May. The project has been successful in significantly reducing dust emissions, according to the Budapest Business Journal. A new filter system ensures that dust is contained, even in a malfunction or power outage.

Cemex announced yesterday that it has closed the sale of operations in Austria and Hungary to the Rohrdorfer Group for approximately EUR160.1m. The transaction was originally announced on 12 August 2015.
