Iran: Fars cement plant exports increase by 134%

Cement plants in Fars province exported 285,700t of the construction material worth US$11.7m in the five months of the current Iranian year (started 20 March), registering a 134 per cent and 86 per cent growth in export volume and value, respectively, compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to Fars Province’s Industries, Mining and Trade Organisation. Iran: exports reach 4.4Mt in first four months

Iran exported 2.57Mt of cement and 1.83Mt of clinker in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar (20 March-21 July 2016), according to the Secretary of the Cement Industry Employers Association, Abdolreza Sheikhan. Iran: Turkmenistan exports reach US$1bn

Deputy Minister of Industry, Valiollah Afkhamirad has said that the country's exports to Turkmenistan have reached US$1bn. He added that Tehran is seeking now more than ever to secure its position in the Ashgabat market. According to Mr Afkhamirad, Iran holds the highest record of exports to Turkmenistan among the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Saman Cement's MD angered by Iraq's high import duties

The managing director of Saman Cement Co, in Kermanshah, West Iran, has said that Iraq's high import duties on cement has put the Iranian cement industry in crisis, reports the Tasnim News Agency. Iran Mercatile exchange resumes cement export trade

Cement offerings for export have resumed at Iran Mercantile Exchange, the IME chief said. 
Isfahan Cement Company initiated the offering with 2000t of cement on Saturday, 1000t of which were traded on cash payment.

Iran: exporters look to Africa for new markets

Iran: cement exports exceed 15Mt

In the year March 2015-2016 Iran produced more than 60Mt of cement, resulting in 15.9Mt of exports to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar. Iranian cement production accounted for approximately two per cent of global production in the given year, making the country the seventh-largest cement producer in the world, slipping from fourth position in the previous year.  Iran aims to increase its production and exports to 120Mt and 32Mt, respectively, by year end 2020.

Iraq promises to remove Iran import ban

Iraq has promised to remove the ban placed on Iranian cement imports, according to Adolreza Sheikhan, secretary of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association. Following meetings between Iranian and Iraqi officials, Baghdad promised to give priority to Iranian exports once the general ban on cement import is removed, Mr Sheikhan said. Iran's cement and clinker exports witnessed a 20 per cent fall in the last fiscal year (ended 20 March), now standing at 15Mt.

Iraq ban challenges Iran cement industry

The Iraqi government has passed a bill banning the imports of Iranian cement to protect its domestic cement industry. Mohammad-Reza Lotfi, the deputy head of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, said that Iran's cement exports to Iraq amounted to some 7Mt or around 60 per cent of Iranian exports last year. Mr Lotfi said that the only solution is to look for new markets, such as Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Iranian cement and clinker exports have fallen by 20 per cent over the past Iranian year (1394), an official said on Tuesday. The secretary of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, Abdolreza Sheikhan, said that Iran's exports of cement and clinker shrank to nearly 15Mt from 18.5Mt a year ago.
