Malaysia-based Hume Cement reported a MYR48.33m net profit for the 1QFY23-24, ended 30 September 2023 versus a net loss of MYR12.04m in the year-ago period. Following a joint venture agreement between Sabah Economic Development Corp (Sedco) and Sri Alam Setia Sdn Bhd that will see the creation of Borneo Cement (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, a new integrated cement plant will be built in Pinangah, Tongod, Malaysia. Cementir Holding posted broadly stable sales of EUR454.5m in the second quarter of 2023. Sarawak’s cement industry is set to expand with the arrival of YTL Cement Bhd and SCG International (Thailand). Cahya Mata adds new clinker line

Malaysian cement producer Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd has been given approval to build a 1.9Mta clinker line in Kuching, Sarawak. The MYR750m (US$160.6m) line will have a production capacity of 6000tpd and is expected to take 36 months to complete, reports The Star.
