LafargeHolcim Maroc posts 3% advance in 1Q revenue

Holcim-owned LafargeHolcim Maroc has reported a three per cent uptick in revenues to MAD2131m (US$209.2m) in the first quarter of 2023 from MAD2077m in the year-ago period. Morocco’s cement demand declined by 5.3 per cent to 3.248Mt in the January-March 2023 period when compared with the first three months of 2022, when consumption reached 3.248Mt. The company’s debts fell by five per cent YoY to MAD4887m at 31 March 2023.

Ciments du Maroc 1Q turnover slips 4%

Ciments du Maroc , part of Heidelberg Materials , posted an unaudited turnover of MAD917.8m in the 1Q2023, down four per cent YoY from MAD955m in the 1Q22. Cement consumption in Morocco saw a 5.3 per cent drop in the January-March 2023 quarter when compared to the year-ago period. The company’s investments in the first quarter of 2023 increased one per cent YoY to MAD47.3m. Financial debt reached MAD42.4m, which corresponds to bank overdrafts.

Moroccan cement deliveries see 21% drop in April

Cement deliveries by APC members Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc saw a 20.6 per cent fall to 716,483Mt in April 2023 from 902,513t in April 2022, according to the country’s cement association, APC. In the first two months of 2023 cement deliveries were down 8.5 per cent YoY to 3,964,276t from 4,330,632t in the 2M22.

Morocco sees small increase in March deliveries

Cement deliveries in Morocco by APC members edged up by 0.6 per cent YoY to 1,195,305t in March 2023 from 1,188,217, according to the country’s cement association, APC. Deliveries include dispatches by Asment Temera, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. In the first quarter of 2023 deliveries declined by 5.3 per cent to 3.248Mt from 3.428Mt in the 1Q22.

Cement dispatches in Morocco down 11% in February

Cement deliveries in Morocco declined 10.8 per cent YoY to 991,906t in February 2023 from 1,111,350t in February 2022, according to the country’s cement association, APC. The data includes deliveries by Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc . In the first two months of 2023, sales volumes were down 8.4 per cent YoY to 2.052Mt from 2.24Mt in the 2M22.

GICA's cement and its Chlef plant obtain CE certification

ECDE exports 0.35Mt of clinker from Algeria

Algeria-based ECDE , part of the GICA group, has exported since the start of the year close to 350,000t of clinker from Algeria, according to ECDE CEO, Kada Dinar. South Valley Cement reports decline in net losses in 2022

Egypt’s South Valley Cement has reported sales in 2022 of EGP873.73m (US$28.3m), up from EGP284.62m in the previous year, according to Zawya. Over the same period, the company saw a net loss of EGP208.74m, compared to a loss of EGP225.45m in 2021, giving a loss per share of EGP0.43 as of 31 December 2022, versus EGP0.47 at the same time a year earlier.
