Arabian Cement Company sees profits surge in 2023

Egypt's  Arabian Cement Company has reported net sales of EGP5.93bn (US$119.67m) in the year ended 31 December 2023, up from EGP4.55bn in the same period in the previous year. Gross profit advanced from EGP904.85m in 2022 to EGP1.33bn the following year. Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, APC ( Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Maroc and Novacim ) increased by 8.5 per cent YoY to 1,076,538t in February 2024 from 991,906t in February 2023, according to he Ministry of National Territory Planning, Land Planning, Housing and Urban Policy. LafargeHolcim Maroc posts 3% pick-up in revenue

LafargeHolcim Maroc reported a revenue of MAD8212m (US$816.2m) in 2023, up 2.8 per cent YoY from MAD7975m in 2022. The advance is attributed to higher cement sales and increased clinker exports. In the 4Q23 alone, revenue was up 2.3 per cent YoY due to higher cement sales in the domestic market. LafargeHolcim Maroc decreased its net debt by 11.3 per cent to MAD4864m at the end of 2023 from MAD5486m at the end of 2022.

Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte reported a 23.7 per cent decline in revenue to TND94.4m (US$30.14m) in 2023 when compared with the previous year, according to data from the Tunis Stock Exchange. Tunisia-based Carthage Cement closed 2023 with a turnover of TND431m (US$138.7m), up 18 per cent when compared with the company’s turnover in 2022, driven by its cement and aggregate business. Moroccan cement association welcomes Novacim membership

The Assembly General of L’Association Profesionelle des Cimentiers (APC) has ratified the decision of its Board of Directors to welcome Novacim , the new Moroccan producer of clinker and cement. Novacim has a 1.6Mta cement plant located in Oulad Ghanem , El Jadida, requiring an investment of MAD2.6m (US$0.259m). With this new unit, the cement supply of APC members reaches a production capacity of 24.6Mta.
