Carthage Cement improves 1Q cement exports

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement has improved its export turnover in the first quarter of 2022. Exports were up 32 per cent YoY to TND65m (US$21.8m). Egypt-based Sinai Cement Co , owned by Vicat , reported a 61.9 per cent increase in sales to EGP1.44bn (US$78.8m) in 2021 when compared with 2020 when the company sold to a value of EGP889.2m. The company also narrowed its loss to EGP354m in 2021 from EGP560.3m in 2020.

Holcim -owned Lafarge Algérie has exported nearly 0.9Mta of cement and clinker in the first quarter of 2022. The volume represents an 87 per cent rise when compared with the 1Q21, when 482,000t of products were exported. Cement deliveries in Morocco increased 2.9 per cent YoY to 1,111,349t in February 2022 from 1,079,983 according to data published by the Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. The data include the dispatches of members of the cement producers’ association, APC (Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc). In the first two months of 2022, dispatches advanced 5.8 per cent to 2,239,901t, up from 2,166,989t in the 2M21.

Misr Beni Suef Cement net profit surges to EGP169m in 2021

Egypt-based Misr Beni Suef Cement reported a net profit after tax of EGP169.05m (US$10.8m) for 2021, surging from EGP76.38m in 2020, according to the company’s financial statement filed to the Egyptian stock exchange (EGX). Sales slipped to EGP1.12bn last year from EGP1.19bn in 2020.
