Boral is targeting 100 per cent renewable and hydrocarbon energy supply by 2025 as part of its net-zero emissions by 2050 commitment. Former Westport site to be gradually redeveloped

A group of Auckland investors that bought the former Holcim Wesport plant and land in the west coast of New Zealand have announced that local residents will have input on how the land is developed going forwards, as a masterplan is formulated.  The Westport plant closed in 2016 with the loss of 105 jobs. The Fijian government has announced that cement can now be imported from overseas at zero-rated duty, according to local press reports. The move comes after the country’s main cement manufacturer Pacific Cement was forced to halt operations at its 0.215Mt grinding plant last month due to a major equipment breakdown , leading to a shortage of supply on the island.
