Uzbek cement producer Akhangarantsement produced 1.1Mta, up 29 per cent YoY, in the first seven months of 2019. In July 2019 the company delivered 190,349t of cement, representing a rise of 34 per cent when compared with July 2018 and setting a new record. Cemex's Lloseta cement plant in Spain has applied for permission to extract a maximum of 15Mt of raw material from its quarry of Can Negret, Alaró, until 2032. Spain’s Ministry of Environment has approved the expansion of the Mataporquera quarry, submitted by Cementos Alfa. New rankings from the US Geological Survey (USGS) have listed three of Cemex USA's quarries in the top 25 Crushed Stone Operations in the nation, with Balcones Quarry taking the top spot.
