Loma Negra saw its net sales revenue decrease by 5.5 per cent to ARS19.3bn (US$171m) in the first quarter of 2022 as cement and concrete sales declined and improvements in aggregates in the railway segment. The Argentine cement demand increased by 9.6 per cent YoY in April 2022 to reach 1,039,320t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In April 2021 cement’s consumption stood at 947,965t. All cement sold in the country was supplied by domestic producers with no imports reported. Argentina’s cement demand increased 7.5 per cent YoY to 1,047,194t in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, when consumption reached 974,347t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Holcim Argentina’s CEO, Christian Dedeu, has warned that clinker production at its plants could come to a halt as he has no guarantee that there will be gas to fire the kilns this coming winter (June-August 2022). “We do not have guaranteed gas for the winter, which puts cement production at risk.
