Cement dispatches in Colombia decreased 2.5 per cent YoY to 963,900t in January 2022 when compared with 989,100t reported in January 2021,when dispatches slipped 0.6 per cent YoYaccording to the national statistics agency, DANE. Peru’s Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion has started a series of technical meetings with construction unions and companies to lower the weight of cement bags in the country from 42.5kg to 25kg. Argos, Grupo Argos' cement company , reported a consolidated EBITDA of COP2.16bn (US$55m) at the end of 2021, representing an increase of 34 per cent compared to 2020 and the highest in the company's history. Cement dispatches to the Peruvian cement market by Asocem members reached 1.012Mt, up two per cent YoY and by 22 per cent when compared with January 2020, according to Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Total cement sales in Brazil (including exports) declined by 8.6 per cent YoY to 4.6Mt in January 2022, according the country’s cement association, SNIC. When compared with December 2021, sales were down 3.7 per cent. In terms of sales per working day, sales fell 10.8 per cent YoY and 3.9 per cent MoM to 197,400t. Sales volumes of cement, concrete and prefabricated products of Peru-based Cementos Pacasmayo fell 6.2 per cent  in the 4Q21 when compared with the 4Q20. Argos opens new Cartagena terminal

Colombia-based Argos has inaugurated its new port terminal in the free zone of Cartagena, Colombia. the new terminal will triple its export capacity to 3.5Mta. The terminal can serve vessels of up to 60,000t. Chilean cement demand advances 2% in December

Cement consumption in Chile increased 2.3 per cent YoY to 373,351t in December 2021, reports the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). For the full-year 2021 total cement demand reached 4,388,207t, up 15.6 per cent when compared with 3,796,976t sold in December 2020.

Argentina’s cement market saw a two per cent contraction to 877,200t in January 2022 when compared with January 2021 when sales reached 895,416t, reports the country’s cement association, AFCP.
