Peru-based Cementos Pacasmayo has reported a 24.5 per cent YoY increase in revenues to PEN507.2m (US$127m) in the 3Q21, on the back of higher sales volumes of cement, concrete and precast, and an increase in cement and concrete prices, in line with cost inflation. Argentine-based Loma Negra has turned its kilns at its L'Amalí in Olavarría back on after resolving the conflict with Minerar, the union that exploits the company’s limestone quarry. The Argentine Mining Workers Association (AOMA) and Loma Negra reached an agreement to improve the working conditions of Minerar’s staff.

Cement dispatches in Peru advanced 14 per cent YoY and three per cent MoM to 1.238Mt in September, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. UNACEM acquires Cementos La Union's operations in Chile

Spain-based Cementos La Unión has closed a deal to sell its operations in Chile to UNACEM, following approval from the National Economic Prosecutor of Chile (FNE) last March. The transaction is valued at US$23m, which includes both the value of the purchase and the existing debt of the subsidiary.  The acquisition will see the transfer of a 300,000tpa grinding and packing plant located in San Antonio, Valparaíso region, as well as two concrete plants.

Belterra clay could replace limestone in cement production
