Chilean cement producer CBB (formerly known as Cementos Bío-Bío) reported a 13.9 per cent advance in revenues to CLP134.538bn in the first six months of 2021 from CLP118.124bn in the 6M20. In August 2021 the Argentine market expanded by 18.2 per cent YoY to 1,083,914t from 917,233t in August 2020 while MoM there was a 3.9 per cent improvement in offtake, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP). The Colombian cement market expanded by 3.6 per cent to 1.132Mt in July 2021 when compared with dispatches of 1.093Mt in July 2020 and by 7.5 per cent when compared with 1.113Mt in July 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Bolivia’s cement market sees 26% expansion in June

Cement consumption in Bolivia increased 25.6 per cent YoY to 289,440t in June 2021 from 230,378t in June 2020, according to data from the country’s statistics office, INE. However, when compared with June 2019, when demand reached 330,612t, a 30.3 per cent contraction was reported. Domestic cement production increased 25.5 per cent YoY to 299,517t in June 2021 from 238,640t in June 2020. Chile-based Cemento Polpaico reported a surge in consolidated revenues from CLP76,528m in the 1H20 to CLP152,376m in the 1H21. Profit before tax reached CLP9361m, reversing a loss of CLP8424m in the 1H20. Net profit reached CLP6833m in the 1H21, from a loss of CLP5862 in the 1H20. Peru’s cement market grew 26 per cent YoY to 1.135Mt in July 2021, compared with 0.904Mt in the year-ago period, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Argentina's Loma Negra has reported a 46.6 per cent YoY increase in net revenue to ARS14.269bn (US$147m) in the quarter ending 30 June 2021, mostly driven by its cement segment. Cement sales in Brazil remained almost level in July 2021 at 5.9Mt, representing a 0.1 per cent YoY increase from 5.897Mt in July 2020, according to SNIC, the industry’s professional body.
